Yorubalam’s chief Imam, Sheik Abdulraheem Aduanigba, said Sharia law will never work in the southwestern part of the country.
Speaking with some Muslim believers, Sheik Aduanigba warned that any people who attempt to impose Sharia law on the six southwestern states could trigger a war.

He stressed that since Muslims do not dominate the region, if Islamic teachings were introduced, it would constitute an invitation to war.
“Sharia does not work in Yorubalam because our general language is Yoruba. When we talk about Yoruba, there are three different religions. Our original religion in Yorubalam was before the advent of Christianity. Traditional religion. Christianity is here, and it gave birth to Islam. Today, in Yorubalam we have 27 million Christians, 23 million Muslims and 10 million traditional believers.”
