According to a Reuters report, the terrorist group filed a claim in a statement released on its telegraph channel on Tuesday, April 29.
The improvised explosive device suspected of being planted by terrorists was detonated under a mobile vehicle from Kala-Balge to Gamboru Ngala local government area.
The tragic incident occurred around 12:00 pm on Monday, when a vehicle, an Isuzu pickup truck drove past the IED near the village of Furunduma.
Asp Nahum Daso, spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the incident and told Punch that the explosion! lith 26 people, including 16 men, four women and six children.
“Earlier today at around 12:00 pm, the route from Kala-Large to Gamboru Ngala, a van fifty-five as the XA265KU, stepped on the IED Furund Furunduma.
“The tragic incident resulted in 26 deaths – 16 men, four women and six children,” Dassault said.
He added that the driver and two other victims were injured and taken to the hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.
The latest bombing took eight lives within 16 days of a similar attack on Maiduguri-Damboa Road, and 11 others seriously injured when a bus hit an IED.
