    • Nigerian actress Funke Akindele has attracted public attention after a clip of her behind-the-scenes meet-and-greet at Genesis Cinema went viral.
    • At the event, Akindele enthusiastically interacted with fans while promoting her latest film.
    • Positive interactions showcased her connection with attendees and her dedication to fan engagement.

Nigerian actress Funke Akindele has once again attracted public attention after a clip of her recent behind-the-scenes meeting at Genesis cinema went viral.

During the event, Akindele was seen enthusiastically interacting with the attendees as she engaged fans while promoting her latest film.

In the video, a female fan shouted to her in Yoruba: ““Aunt Fink, your money has gone down” means “Aunt Fink, your money has gone down.” “

Many viewers thought the comment put Akindele in an awkward position. Some believe that if she bent down to examine the floor, the moment could have been misinterpreted as despair or gullibility and could have easily gone viral as a meme.

Social media users criticized the fan’s actions, saying it was insensitive given Akindele’s high-profile status and public environment.

Meanwhile, Funke Akindele made history as Africa’s highest-grossing film-maker when her film Behind The Scenes passed the £2 billion mark.

Film analysis website Filmoneng confirmed the milestone, which Akindele later celebrated on Instagram on Sunday, January 12, 2025. In a joyful dance-themed post, she thanked her fans for their contribution to the landmark achievement of African cinema.

The success also marks a first for Akindele: she has now held the number one spot at the African box office for three consecutive years, cementing her status as an industry trailblazer.
