The IJAW National Assembly (INC) strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu for declaring a state of emergency in the Rivers State, calling it a “rush and partisan” move, allegedly aiming to favor the federal capital territorial minister Nyesom Wike.
According to INC President Professor Benjamin Ogele Okaba, the decision to declare the emergency was a decision by the people of Ilya to refuse to induce violence on the meticulously planned Thanksgiving Day last weekend and Saturday held Vik in Yabalama.
“We just said yesterday in print and television media that the politics of River State Ohara surpassed the battle between Vick and Fobala, but one was orchestrated by a larger political hand. Now Nigerians have seen the last straw that could break the camel’s back,” Gamba claimed.
The INC leader also condemned the selective nature of what he called the emergency rules, noting that Wike remained the FCT minister and federal appointee when Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, state legislators and all appointees were removed from office.
“How do we explain that Mr. President’s state of emergency was fired by Governor Fobala and all of his appointed people, but without firing the main participants in the matter, who had been constantly boasting about the chaos, attacking the Iyas, inciting violence?” Okaba questioned.
The Ilia National Assembly called for an immediate evacuation of Vick and his accomplices, warning that not doing so would force the ijaw people to reassess “all injustice have suffered from all injustice since the foundation of Nigeria” and took a firm stance in determining their future.
The company also expressed concerns about the safety and security of Governor Siminalayi Fubara after the military seized power over the river state in a declared state of emergency.

“The world is watching, and this move seems to be a case of a dictatorship masquerading as a civilian governance,” the company warned.
Meanwhile, after the dismissal, Deputy Admiral Emmanuel Ekpo, Rtd., was appointed as the sole administrator of Rivers State.
But critics continue to ask why Vick, who has been at the center of the crisis, remains unaffected by the president’s ruling.

The IJAW National Congress (Inc) (INC) expressed gratitude to the people of Ilya for avoiding the crisis allegedly orchestrated by former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike and his federal allies.
According to INC President Professor Benjamin Okaba, the plan aims to put the Iya community in crisis, which justifies the emergency rules in Rivers State.
