Maobuye Nangi Obu, Secretary General of the Ilya Youth Committee (IYC), condemned the council president Jonathan Lokpobiri, allegedly blamed the Ilya people for imposing a state of emergency in Rivers.

Obu accused Lokpobiri of being consistent with political interests at the expense of his people, adding that his statements were hypocritical and a betrayal of the Iya people.

He shared his dissatisfaction with Lokpobiri’s statement in his speech at a recent stakeholder meeting organized by Harcourt Port Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL).

Obu said Lokpobiri’s remarks were not only unfounded, but also made him a compromise leader, and he no longer represented the interests and aspirations of the Ijaw people.

“Lokpobiri must keep clean in his position in the political crisis of the river. ” Obu said the president accused the IYC of trading the IJAW cause for political and economic favors.

He further accused Lokpobiri (Lokpobiri) Nyesom Wike, He accused him of cheering for the River State crisis, which was the Governor of Statistics, Siminalayi Fubara.

He argued that the highly respected Ijaw leader, along with the Panigel Delta Forum (Pandef), actively sought a peaceful solution before the state of emergency was declared. According to him, the effort was ignored by Wick.

He added that Lokpobiri’s failure to condemn Wike’s alleged role in the crisis was driven by political calculations, including concerns about the governor’s ambitions of his brother’s brother in Bayelsa State, which he claimed was supported by Wike.

“Instead of standing firmly for the Ijaw people at a critical moment, Lokpobiri chose to “spray out the chaos” and distort the facts. “His comment was not only an embarrassment, but also a compromise on the ijaw struggle.” He said.

Obu expressed concern that Lokpobiri’s leadership has weakened the IYC voice when strong advocacy is needed.
