The appointment follows the resignation of George Nwaeke, director of substantive services, who was replaced by Iyingi Brown.
The only Chief Executive of Rivers State, Ibok-Ibok Ibas Deputy Admiral (RTD), appointed the renowned legal expert and Chief Executive Professor Ibibia Worika as the new secretary of the state government (SSG).
The appointment takes effect immediately, following a rigorous selection process, where Worika’s extensive experience, academic certificates and policy expertise stand out.
According to the statement of the sole Chief Executive, Worika’s outstanding career academia, international legal practice and senior policy advisory positions are perfect for him to support administrators in achieving the mandate set by President Bola Tinubu for the country.
“Professor Worika’s extensive experience in legal scholarships, public policy and governance will help drive the government’s agenda,” the statement reads.

In related developments, the former Chief of Naval appointed Iyingi Brown as permanent secretary of the Office of the Service Leader, as the Director of Service, awaiting substantive appointments.
The appointment follows the resignation of George Nwaeke, head of substantive services.
The government expressed gratitude to Nwaeke for his contribution during his tenure and hoped that he would succeed in his future efforts.

The only administrator of Rivers State, Vice-President IBOK-ETE IBAS (Retd.), announced the release of the detained local government allocation.
Ibas made the announcement at a meeting with supervisors of local government administrators in the state capital Port Harcourt on Friday.
