On Tuesday, March 18, the Athens court found that Roula Pispirigou suffocated her babies, Malena and Irida in 2019 and 2021, which eventually led her husband’s attempt to repeatedly abandon her ultimately failed.
After a 12-month trial concluded, the 35-year-old Patra woman was sentenced to two other lifetime terms after maintaining the prosecutor’s position, the position argued that Pispirigou was “methodically calculated” and was obsessed with the girl’s father, Manos Daskalakis.
“She suffocated her children to keep her husband intimate relationship,” said prosecutor Vassiliki Dimopoulou.
When Malena was treated for leukemia in the hospital in 2019, Iris died of suffocation in her bed in 2021, and Georgina also died in the hospital, and in 2022 she was admitted to the hospital after suffering “cardiac arrest.”
Dimopoulou also accused the forensic examiners of investigating the girls’ negligence, saying their “failure” allowed Pispirigou to escape her crimes for years.
“They lacked responsibility and failed to conduct a thorough and serious investigation into the reasons for the three children’s de@th,” the prosecutor said.
Pispirgou’s appeal against Georgina’s murder is scheduled for May 5.
