
The Katz State Government has partnered with NAPTIP and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to rescue 13-year-old Rahama Sanusi from alleged traffickers.
In the context of accepting Hadiza Yar’adua, Commissioner for Girls on Tuesday, 26 February 2025, the Government’s commitment to working with UNICEF, NAPTIP and other agencies to address trafficking in children and off-campus children.
She stressed the importance of parental responsibilities and urged parents not to rely too much on relatives to grow up.
Rahama was in Kano under the care of her late mother’s sister and was then trafficked to Benue state.
Her father, Sanusi Ahmed, revealed that he had made several failed attempts to take her home before trying to.
He expressed his gratitude to NAPTIP and the state government for their rapid intervention.
Authorities have pledged to ensure justice for victims while strengthening measures to protect vulnerable children in the state.
