The Kebbi state government has begun preparing to sponsor a massive wedding of 300 couples in the state, scheduled for February 27.
Organizing committee chairman Alhaji Suleiman Arganggu revealed this to journalists at Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
According to Argungu, the wedding was organized in partnership with the non-governmental organization Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (NANAS).

He explained that various committees have been established, such as pregnancy tests, genotype tests, HIV/AIDS tests, and other legal prerequisites for marriage in the state.
Argungu said the massive wedding was to fulfill Governor Nasir Idris’ commitment during the last massive wedding to hold such weddings regularly to assist with less privilege marry.

“The governor of Idris will provide 180,000 dowry to each bride in 21 local government areas of the state.
“Other other items will also be provided, such as room furniture and food for all couples, to consolidate their marriage,” Argungu said.
He added that the wedding will be consulted extensively in practice with Islamic scholars and the practice of Islamic prophets Muhammad (SAW).
