Detectives from the Bomet Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (DCI) in Kenya have arrested a 28-year-old man, Wesley Cheruiyot Koech, for his ex-Love Rachealine Rutto (Rachealine Rutto) is 45.
DCI disclosed this in a statement on Friday, April 4, 2025.
According to the statement, Koech was dissatisfied and moved forward with another man after Rutto ended his romantic relationship in 2016.
Ruto’s lifeless body was discovered on March 25, 2025.
“This discovery was made by the deceased’s daughter, who became increasingly anxious and had no response after repeatedly calling the mother for a long time,” the statement said.
“Driven by fear, she visited her mother’s home and encountered a horrifying scene. Ruto’s body was lying on a bed of blood, with deep wounds on her neck, and multiple stabs on her arms, chest and back.
The detectives were determined to uncover the mystery behind this cold-blooded crime and began an intensive investigation.
“Through the forensic trail, the suspect, 28-year-old Wesley Cheruiyot Koech, eventually smoked and was arrested at the hiding place in the East East sub-county of Kipkelion in Salo Village.
“After the interrogation, Cheruiyot took the detective to his residence, where several charges were recovered. These included suspicious murder weapons, blood-stained knife wrapped in cloth, the ring of the deceased, and a cell phone that contained disturbing photos of the body taken by the suspect after Kling.
“It has been determined that the motivation behind the outrageous behavior stems from long-standing hatred.
“Cheruiyot is said to have chosen to move forward with another man after Rutto ended his romantic relationship in 2016.
“Cheruiyot is allegedly betrayed after spending money during their time together.”
