In Lagos State, a kidnapped by a five-year-old girl, Memunah Abdulrahman, has demanded a ransom for her family.
Memunah was kidnapped on March 9, 2025 while returning home from an Islamic school in the Egibo area of the state.
The suspect reportedly approached Memunah and her sister, a famous supermarket in the nearby Ejigbo Community, and lured it into it.
The suspect reportedly disappeared with Memunah while pretending to buy items for them, leaving his sister behind.
The girl’s father, Abdurrahman Alimi, confirmed the latest developments in an interview with Punch, said the suspect contacted him last month (April) via a private number and asked for payment.
He explained: “After my daughter was kidnapped, they called us. They hid the phone number and asked us to pay N500,000 before they could free my daughter. They hung up and haven’t called since then. I believe my daughter is still alive.”
“We told police about this development. They said we should ask them to contact us via WhatsApp.
“We don’t know what the police are doing. On Friday, it will be exactly two months since the daughter was kidnapped.”
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Commander, confirmed that police chief Owohunwa Jimoh has ordered the state criminal investigation department to take over the case.
Although the family admitted that SCID agents visited the community shortly after they issued the order, Alimi told the publication that they have since remained in the dark about the progress of the investigation.
