The administration of the Federal University, Lokoja, in Kogi State, closed the institution indefinitely to prevent further damage to life and property.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, the agency’s Registrar and Council Secretary, on Thursday, February 20, and could be disclosed to Lokoja’s news reporters supply.
Management claims that since K awarded five students at the institution on Monday, February 17, those students have blocked the main gates of the university, making it difficult for five students entering the campus to enter.
The statement reads: “The closure was the death of five students in Felele on Monday, February 17, 2025.
“Since the incident, students have blocked the university’s doors despite grand interventions from the state government and calm efforts and appeals from university management.
“So, due to the recommendations of the National Security Agency and the further loss of life and prosperity prevented, the Vice-Chancellor, after proper consultation with management, decided on behalf of the Senate that both campuses would be closed indefinitely.
“Students will evacuate campus at or before noon Thursday, February 20.”
Recall that the institution’s students, led by union president Benjamin Olorunfemi Timothy, threatened to block the highway on the campus side during the day to block the area accident.
