    • Thirty-eight members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, were kidnapped by bandits on November 18 and released. They have yet to be reunited with their families.
    • Although Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak confirmed their release (presidential sources clarified that no ransom was paid), the victims remain in Ilorin receiving comprehensive medical and psychological trauma care funded by the state government. Relatives expressed anxiety about the long delays.

On November 18, 38 members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Oke-Isegun, Eruku, Kwara State, were kidnapped by bandits. Although their release was confirmed, they have not yet been reunited with their families.

Three people were killed in the attack after worshipers were abducted during a special thanksgiving service in Ekiti Local Government Area. Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak confirmed their release through Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye. Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga clarified that no ransom was paid and the release was obtained through government negotiations.

Upon release, the victim was transferred to Ilorin to receive state government funded medical and psychological care. A senior official revealed that the delay in reunification was due to ongoing trauma care, especially for the elderly and children.

However, relatives are growing anxious about the long wait. A family member who asked not to be named said:

“The government told us they were taking care of them. When we heard they were released, we celebrated, but since that day, they have not arrived in Eruku. We miss them and want them to come home.”

Officials promised thorough care before return, stressing that the victim had experienced severe trauma.
