Labour’s President (LP), Comrade Julius Abure, strongly asserted that there was no vacuum in the party’s leadership and rejected any demands to the contrary.
On Monday, April 7, at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held at the National Secretariat in Utako, Abure stressed that his term leaders remain intact.
“There is no vacuum in the Labour leadership. The Supreme Court’s ruling did not say that the term of the NWC under my leadership has expired,” Abure said.
He further condemned the so-called National Career Commission’s actions, calling it an illegal body. “The so-called state caretaker Commie is an illegal body that is not known to any law that guides Labour Party,” he said.
Abure also clarified that the recent Umuahia incident at Abia State was not a legal NEC meeting and reiterated that the so-called caretaker committee had no legal status. He added: “What happened in Umuahia, Abia State is not the NEC meeting; therefore, the so-called caretaker committee is an illegal entity. The so-called caretaker committee is just a messy interloper with the sole purpose of destroying our political party.”
