The Labor Party (LP) insists that Julius Abure remains the president, despite a Supreme Court ruling on Friday that addressed the party’s leadership.
The party’s state propaganda secretary Obiora Ifoh said in a statement handled by its official X (formerly Twitter) that the court did not remove him as chairman.
“The Supreme Court has striked Nenadi and Abure lawsuits, saying only political parties can determine who their leaders are. It also said that the court should not get involved in party affairs.
Dr. Julius Abure remains the President of Labor, the statement said.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal did not have the right to declare an infringement of the party’s chairman, citing leadership within the party as an internal issue.
The court upheld the appeal of former Senator Nenadi Usman and another party member.
Labor demarcates presidential checks for 2027 to support Ndigbo – Abure
Labor’s president Julius Abure said he distributed the party’s presidential vote without regrets about the presidential vote ahead of the 2027 election.
Abure made the statement at a rally organized by members of the Southeast Labor Party.
