
The Lagos State Government has begun demolishing large real estate, verbal estates and certain buildings built in Leki County and building them in aligned manner with the ikota River.
Tokunbo Wahab State Environment and WTAER Resources Commission disclosed this through its X handle. He mentioned that the demolition began on Friday, May 9.
“After the expiration of the service notice, the drainage enforcement and compliance department of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources of the Lagos State Department of Environment and Water Resources began to remove illegal structures within and verbal positions in the Ikota River along the Ikota River, Eti-Osa, to prevent multi-year flooding in Area X. ”
Certain buildings within the Oral Manor, West, Giant and Lekki County have been designated by the state government to demolish because it is within the river limit. The state government mentioned that demolition is part of measures that will help resolve floods in the state and protect lives and property.
