    Lakurawa k! lls 13, then evacuated seven villages in Kebbi retaliation

    On Sunday, March 9, after Maigemu’s death, believed to be in retaliatory attacks believed to have been following the death of his leader, he launched an attack on Birnin Dede Village in Kebbi State on Sunday, March 9, K! lling 13 people.

    The attackers also caught fire for at least eight villages around Birnin Dede, all within the Arewa local government area, sources told the channel. It is understood that the attack was in retaliation against Klling, a security force in the area.

    Speaking over the phone, a source said only one village was preserved because it was protected by the army. The source added: “We seek protection from Allah to prevent this terrible group.”

    Areva local government chairman Sani Aliyu confirmed the attack on channel television. This follows a recent operation by security forces backed by Kebi State Governor Nasir Idris, leading to the death of Maigemu, the leader of the Lakurawa Group. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to address the activities of armed groups in the Northwest region.
