
Lamidi Apapa declared himself the leader of the party after the Supreme Court ruling fired Julius Abure as president.
In a recent ruling, a five-member Supreme Court overturned the ruling of the Court of Appeals in Abuja, who had earlier recognized Abuja as the party’s state president.
Apapa, citing a Supreme Court ruling, held a press conference on Wednesday announcing the acquisition of the party’s leadership. He believes that the court’s ruling has invalidated all actions and decisions made by Abure since April 2023.
In a statement signed by the main members of the Party – Deputy President (NLC) Mr. Ladi Iliya; Deputy Chairman (TUC), Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi; State Secretary, Al. Umar Farouq Ibrahim; National Legal Counsel, Barr. Oyelekan Akingbade; Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, Secretary of State Propaganda; Mrs. Oluchi Opara, State Treasurer – Apapa confirmed that the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was established in 2022 on Monday, April 14, 2025.
