Luciano Spalletti served as head coach of Italy after he beat Norway 3-0 in the opening ceremony of the World Cup qualifying match.
Spalletti confirmed the press conference ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The result of the first match with Norway was against the top hierarchy of the FA.
This result means Italy is unlikely to reach a peak in their team, which put them in a possible playoffs to avoid missing a third straight World Cup.
Spalleti said,
“We were with the President last night [Gabriele] grave. He told me that I would be assured that I would be the national team coach. I had no intention of giving up. I’d rather stay in my place and keep doing my job. I’ll be there [on Monday] At night against Moldova, we will settle the contract. ”
Spalletti was appointed Italian manager in August 2023 after resigning at the 2020 European Cup manager Roberto Mancini. Spalletti led Naples to the first Scudetto in 33 years of the 2022-23 season, and expectations for Spalletti were high.
