The 11th Nigeria Awards held on March 25, 2025, at Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, highlights the extraordinary achievements of Nigerian football.
Ademola Lookman, who currently shows off his talent in Atalanta, won the title of King of the Field and has recognized his outstanding performance throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Asisat Oshoala, representing Bay Football Club, was awarded the Queen of the Stadium, further cementing her position as Nigeria’s leading female footballer.
Among other prominent winners, Victor Osimhen was awarded the striker of the year, Alex Iwobi won the midfielder of the year, and William Troost-Ekong was recognized as the defender of the year. Fidelis Ilechukwu received the Coach of the Year Award for his successful tenure at Rangers International.
The night also admitted that it had made a significant contribution to the development of Nigerian football. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu won the Football Friendly Governor of the Year Award, while Lagos State is recognized for having the best grassroots football development program.
In addition, Remo Stars Chairman Kunle Soname won the Sam Okwaraji Award for his unwavering commitment to football in Nigeria, while MTN Nigeria was appointed as a football company sponsor.
The event also celebrates journalists’ influential work in promoting Nigerian football, with Charles Dia (New Telegraph), Godwin Enakhena, Mozez Praiz (Super Sports) and Samuel Ahmadu (Savid News) receiving praise in various media categories.
