

Real Madrid captain Luka Modric announced that he will leave the club at the end of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Croatian confirmed that he will welcome Real Sociedad in the final match of the season on Saturday, May 24, 2025, where he will play his final match at his home in Real Madrid. He sent emotional messages to Real Madrid supporters through his official Instagram account on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Modric scored two goals and six assists in 34 games this season, spending most of his time on the bench. He is the first player since 2007, except for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
He said
“That moment has come. I never thought about that moment, but it’s football, and in life, everything has a beginning and an end. I arrived in 2012, hoping to wear the jerseys of the best team in the world and do great things ambitiously, but I can’t imagine it. But, I can’t imagine what’s coming. I’m proud to play for Real Madrid and one person. I’m proud.

Modric won six Champions Leagues, six FIFA Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Cup titles and five Spanish Super Cups in his 13 seasons at Real.
Modric is the third member of Spain’s top pilot, behind only the sports club’s Oscar de Marcos and Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.
