A northern bus was arrested for murder in Benue.
Daily reports Nigeria collected a 50-year-old suspect who was identified as Alh Nuru Isah as beating his 24-year-old wife.
This happened in the Fadamam Mada area of Benue state.
CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, March 2, saying her husband had beaten his 24-year-old wife, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness.
He added that this happened in a family dispute between the two over Ramadan.
She was taken to the ATBU Teaching Hospital where medical staff confirmed her death.
He said;
“On March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 00 pm, the Butch State Police Command was informed of the alleged homicide incident, near the Government Women’s College in the Fadamam Mada area of Butch,” the statement said.
“This unfortunate incident stems from a misunderstanding between 50-year-old Alh Nuru Isah, 50, a businessman at Bauchi Central Market and his second wife Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, involved handling the processing of food ingredients and designated as a disruption of the fasting of Ramadan, which escalated to violent fasting.
“Preliminary investigations show that the suspect Alh Nuru Isah was accused of using sugar cane to attack his wife, which caused her to collapse and become unconscious within her marital residence. The victim was subsequently taken to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, where medical staff confirmed her D3ATH.
“The Bauchi State Police Department has conducted a thorough investigation into the incident and arrested the suspect Alh Nuru Isah. The sugar cane used in the attack has been recycled as exhibits and the deceased has been placed in the autopsy procedure.
“Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad PSC Anpir Assuring the public that ensuring justice remains a priority for the headquarters.
