In a heart-warming encounter at Old Trafford, Manchester United gained its position in the 2024-2025 UEFA Eurepa League semifinals, overcoming Lyon’s fierce challenge.

The second leg ended Manchester United 5-4, resulting in the Premier League Giants winning a 7-6 victory with a score of 7-6.

After 2-2 in the first round, Manchester United approached the second round with determination and urgency. Manuel Ugarte led the lead when he found the back of the net in the 10th minute and injected a wave of optimism into home fans.

Diogo Dalot’s score in injury time (45+1′) expanded the total to 4-2 before the halftime, putting the crowd in joy.

However, Lyon responded quickly. In a dramatic event, Corentin Tolisso and Nicolá Tagliafico scored in a quick series (71′ and 77′), temporarily dropping the game on its head. The score was 4-4 that night, and Lyon regained his voice in the tie, putting huge pressure on Manchester United.

Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso received a red card in the 89th minute, dropping one of his team’s men for a few minutes, further exacerbating the intensity of the game.

However, the table turns around with the owner in an extra time. Lyon’s Rayan Cherki scored in the 104th minute, putting Manchester United in a stumbling block. Just five minutes later, Alexandre Lacazette converted the fine (109′), which seemed to seal Manchester United’s fate, making it a total of 6-4. The pressure is obvious and Manchester United seems to be on the verge of elimination.

However, when it seems that all hope is gone, United gained a lifeline. In the 114th minute, Bruno Fernandes showed amazing calm to convert the fine and narrowed the deficit to 6-5. Then, during the dying moment of the match (120′) (120′), the young and talented young are magnificent, bringing the overall score to 6-6 and keeping the game tense.

With the imminent punishment, the scene was delighted with Manchester United fans. In the downtime (120+1′), Harry Maguire became an unexpected hero, returning home to the last minute champion, with an exciting 5-4 victory that night and a total of 7-6 wins.
