Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will welcome three key attackers to the Premier League showdown against Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday.
Chelsea is currently involved in a competitive battle to secure a coveted position in the top four and next season’s Champions League.
Despite defeating Southampton 4-0, Chelsea’s offensive struggle was obvious as they scored only six goals in the last eight games in all matches.
The disappointing game lost three of their last five league games, prompting Maresca to dramatically change his roster. It is worth noting that due to the ongoing damage issues in his offensive program, he had to deploy winger Pedro Neto as an unfamiliar center role.
However, the recent international break has provided Chelsea with much-needed improvements that allow Maresca to reevaluate his squad. He confirmed that key players Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson could all choose against Tottenham, which could revitalize the team’s offense.
“Cole is back and it feels good. Noni is in a better shape, and Nico is ready.” Maresca said in a pre-match press conference.
In contrast, the team suffered a major setback on midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Maresca revealed that Lavia has recovered from previous injuries since joining the club from Southampton in the summer of 2023, and he had a new setback just days before the upcoming fixtures.
“He showed real progress, but unfortunately, we were facing an unexpected problem a day or two ago.” Maresca explained, adding that they will monitor Lavia’s condition in the next few hours to assess his recovery.
Lavia’s ongoing injury issues hindered his development at Chelsea, and Maresca had a tough task for his identity as he prepared for a fiercely competitive game against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
