Defense Minister Bello Matawalle expressed deep concern about the ongoing crisis at the Oxen State Local Government Commission.

In a statement from his office, Matawalle urged security agencies to take positive steps to ensure the state’s laws and orders.
“In view of this development, he called on security agencies to take positive measures to maintain law and order in the state,” the statement reads.
Matawalle stressed that the recent court ruling on the matter emphasized the independence of the judiciary and was consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to justice, equity and the rule of law.
He condemned the loss of life in the crisis and stressed the need for immediate action to prevent further violence.
“As Secretary of Defense, my duty also includes protecting the lives and property of all citizens. This affirms the Government’s dedication to ensuring respect and sustain democratic principles at all levels of governance,” he said.
The Secretary of Defense called on all stakeholders, including political leaders, community members and civil society organizations to respect the rule of law and conduct peaceful dialogue to resolve the crisis.
He further emphasized the importance of unity in cultivating stable and progressive Osun countries.
Matawalle also called on residents to remain calm and avoid any action that could escalate tensions and ensure the federal government is committed to its safety.
He reiterated the Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and protecting Nigeria’s democratic rights.
