Popular content creator MC Mbakara and his wife Lolo Mbakara have bravely shared their emotional experience of raising a child with cerebral palsy and the shame that comes with it.
In an emotional video posted on their Instagram page, the couple, who celebrated their wedding anniversary just a few months ago, recounted the difficult journey that began when their first child was born.
Lolo recalled that her pregnancy went smoothly, with regular prenatal check-ups and scans, and no complications were found. However, during the delivery, things took a tragic turn when the baby became stuck and the delivery became extremely difficult. Although she eventually gave birth, their newborn had trouble breathing.
According to her, the hospital where she gave birth was suffering from a lack of oxygen, forcing them to rush to another hospital. Unfortunately, when they arrived, the medical treatment was delayed for more than 30 minutes because the nurse insisted on completing the registration first.
After finally being cared for, they were referred again to a third hospital, where their children received oxygen therapy for a week. A subsequent scan brought devastating news. Lolo revealed that one trainee doctor even suggested they stop giving the child oxygen so she could “rest in peace,” saying it would also bring peace to them.
The couple rejected the suggestion, choosing instead to support their daughter and believe in miracles.
Their daughter, affectionately known as Mama Eck, has been living with the disease ever since. MC Mbakara has excitedly revealed that she sleeps “almost 99 percent of the day,” meaning she has slept most of the time for nine years.

@FeliciaBeee: “Cerebral palsy (CP) affects movement and posture and is a medical condition, not a mental illness. I really admire the love and strength you and your husband show in sharing your children’s story. It’s not easy, especially in a society where cerebral palsy is often misunderstood. May God continue to bless and strengthen you.”
