Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose has praised President Bola Tinubu for dismissing Mele Kyari as group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
Recall that in a statement earlier Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser to information and strategy, announced Kyari’s removal.
He said the president appointed Bashir Ojulari as the new GCE, effective April 2, 2025.
The president also removed Pius Akinyelure, chairman of the board of directors of Petroleum, and replaced him with non-executive chairman Ahmadu Musa Kida.
Fayose reacted on Wednesday through a post on X, where he asserted that firing Kyari was the smartest move Tinubu has ever made.
Further, he urged the president to be as corrupt as the NNPCL in other systems.
Fayose said:Delete NNPCL CEO Mele Kyari is a welcome development. This is the smartest move President Tinubu has ever made.
“Hopefully this will bring better lives to the NNPCL, especially Nigerians.
“The same courage to wield a big stick should also be extended to other systems, like NNPCL’s decay.”
