A man considered a “sex pest” was forbidden to make friends with his girlfriend without telling her social workers.
Andrew Thomas, 49, was arrested and recorded his 65-year-old neighbor changing an iPhone in his bedroom, hanging on a small bottle of artificial flowers at his home near Pitlochry, Scotland.
He was said to have met the victim and built a camera phone on artificial flowers in the bedroom to film her changes for months.
The 49-year-old patient was caught when the horror victim discovered the device while rescheduling artificial flowers. It was found that its memory held her intimate recordings of over 40 hours in different states of undressing states, and he was later caught by the woman’s daughter and her partner in sneaking inside the property.
According to the Daily Record, Thomas admitted what he did and admitted to having romantic feelings for the victims.
Sheriff Alison McKay placed Thomas on the S£X criminal register for five years and ordered him to do 300 hours of unpaid work in the community.
Finance Representative Rachel Hill told the court that the woman lived alone in a small village near Pitlochry, Thomas’ hometown.
She added: “On July 29, 2023, the complainant was re-arranged artificial flowers in a vase under the foot of the bed.
“After further investigation, it was found that it was a cell phone that was connected to the inside of the vase and connected to the power bank inside the vase.
“The video recording can be seen from the screen. It seems to have been running for 40 hours and 45 minutes.”
When her daughter looked at the photo gallery, she found 34 files.
Ms Hill added: “From the thumbnail, she can see the mother having an intimate image at all stages of undressing and nude. She believes the defendant is a friend who often socializes with shared coffee, alcoholic beverages and dog walks.”
Defense attorney Linda Clark told the court: “It seems Mr. Thomas is obsessed with the complainant. He believes friendship will fall into something different.
“It’s not an explanation for his decision to place the recording device in the complainant’s family. He misunderstood the situation, but it’s not an excuse.”
Peep Tom recorded unsuspecting pensioners between January 29 and July 29, 2023.
“The crime is very worrying, involving violating the complainant’s home and her privacy. I’m not sure she is the person you are friends with, not a stranger,” the sheriff said.
She imposed 12 prescribed conduct orders, including restricting his phone and internet use, prohibiting access to victims and restrictions on any new friendships or relationships.
