Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe was visibly sad during the song service held in honor of her late mother, Mrs. Grace Abisola Owodunni, on Thursday, November 27.
The actress, who announced the death of her mother a few days ago, is currently preparing for the funeral, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Lekki, Lagos.
In a somber video captured online, the movie star can be seen shedding emotional tears as she leads pallbearers into the funeral venue. The ceremony marked the beginning of Ms. Owoduni’s final rites.
In other news… Nollywood actress Sochima Ezeoke has taken to social media to vent openly about being swapped for a movie role because she didn’t have a “voluptuous butt” or “hot body”.
In a viral video posted on her Instagram, the actress revealed that she was originally offered the role of the maid two weeks ago. However, upon arriving on set, she claimed the role was switched by the director.
Ezeok faced the woman who got the original role and asked:
“Aren’t you playing the role of a village girl? Why are you pretending to be innocent?”
The actress later expressed her strong dissatisfaction, claiming that the decision was unfair, especially since the director allegedly lacked the physique they required:
“I don’t like raising any issues on social media but I have to say it. How can you change my character just because I don’t have a ‘hot body’. Coming from a director with a flat ass.”
She further claimed that the producers of the role initially contacted her because she knew Ezeoke could act, but she was relegated to playing the maid.
Ezeoke ends by speaking out for other capable actors in the industry who face similar body-shaming issues:
“I’m speaking for all the actors out there who can act but don’t have the ‘butt’ to play the role.”
