Nigeria’s highest female police officer, Assistant Inspector General Aishatu Abubakar-Baju, said it was only a matter of time before Nigeria produced its first female inspector general.

When asked about the possibility of someone like her appearing like IGP like her, she made a statement in an interview with channel TV.

She acknowledged that there can only be one IGP at a time based on the discretion of the country’s president.

Aig Abubakar-BajuHowever, people recognize and praise the fact that women have the opportunity to grow and develop in the police force.

Naija News It was reported that she also said in the interview that the emergence of IGP was not based on gender.

“The position of the Police Inspector General is at the discretion of the President. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria believes it is worth it. At any time, only one IG can take office; there cannot be two IGs.

“The most important thing is that women have the opportunity to grow; women have the opportunity to develop themselves in the Nigerian police force.

“If you look at my own story, I’ll get a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree. I have a master’s degree, I have a PhD. I have other qualifications. It enables us to develop ourselves, and I believe it’s only a matter of time before women have done a great job so far. Only one Police Inspector General, I don’t think it’s about gender. It’s just at the discretion of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Of course, he finds that it’s worthy of that office, and he will give them. I look at the opportunity to be able to develop yourself and contribute to your quota, regardless of your gender,She said.
