A fire broke out that claimed the lives of a woman and her two children were in the West Government area of Odo State.
The tragic fire occurred on Sunday evening, February 16, 2025, when residents fell asleep on Rainbow Street at the junction of Onipakala.
What people gathered was that the woman, a small businessman and his two children, believed to be Bukora and Ifeoluwa, were burned in the fire.
A neighbor who spoke with confidence said they saw the fire around midnight and the deceased and her children fell asleep quickly.
“Sadly, we can’t rescue them. The fire had to last for hours, destroying the trapped buildings,” the source told Daily Trust.
The president of the Street Landlords Association, who identified himself as Mr Adegbulu, said firefighters in the town failed to show up, reportedly lacking water and chemicals.
“When the fire was furious, we called the fire service and were only told there was no water and chemicals. In fact, the officer turned off the phone immediately,” he said.
The state police spokesman Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the incident, saying the bodies of the deceased had been moved to the morgue of Ondo State General Hospital.
