Quadri Yusuf Alabi is a 17-year-old boy who shared his traumatic experience in his prison during the 2023 election.
Quadri was arrested by police in January 2025. He was arraigned in court and has been imprisoned since then. Last week, a young woman brought his plight to the public, demanding that Nigerians rise to ensure the teenager is released. When police say Quadri was arrested and charged with a violent street fight in the Amukoko area of Lagos earlier this year, Quadri insisted he was framed.
Quadri said in a speech on channel television this morning that he had been on a motorcycle until the day he was arrested, sending fish to drivers walking around. He mentioned that on the day of his arrest, he had just finished his work on the day, collected money from his boss, and went home. He mentioned that he had just arrived at his compound when some police officers cost him and accused him of being part of the man who had recently fought on the street. He mentioned it. That’s how he was picked up and taken to the station, Quadri said. He mentioned that of all the arrested people, he was the smallest. He mentioned that when he was in prison, he served as the man to evacuate feces from potholes in the toilet.
He mentioned that he wanted to go to school and needed all the help he could get.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have raised over 10 million N nigari so far.
