Actress Bolaji Ogunmola has recounted her harrowing experience after being stranded at Ekiti State Airport for over 24 hours, saying the delay ruined the first day of the production of her new N20 million movie.
In a video shared on Instagram, the visibly distraught actress said she has been dealing with flight delays since Wednesday, which has kept her far away from the film crew already assembled in Lagos.
Ogunmola explained that production of her film has already begun, with actors, restaurant bookings and paid locations waiting for her.
She said:
“By the way, I’m still at the airport and I cried my eyes out this morning. I should have been on set. Today is the first day of production on TOC. I booked actors, restaurants, everything. I spent over 15 to 20 million trying to make this movie…and I’m still here.”
The actress said she checked in on Wednesday but was told her flight was delayed. Hours later, the airline canceled the flight entirely and offered no other arrangements, leaving her stranded overnight.
She spent the night in a motel and returned to the airport early Thursday, hoping a rescheduled flight would take off.
“They said departure at 8 a.m.. I woke up at 5 a.m. and got to the airport at 6:30. Then it was changed to 9:30. Then they said 12 o’clock. Now they say 5:30,” She was also frustrated.
Ogunmola said the biggest challenge was not just delays but a lack of communication from the airlines, which left her production staff stranded and confused.
She added:
“As we speak, my crew, my production crew, everything, it’s our first day on the job. It’s not just my time that they’re playing with. This is my bread and butter. Everyone is telling me ‘I’m sorry.’ What am I going to do? I’m really stuck here.”
With no choice and fear of mounting losses, Ogunmola said she planned to travel to Lagos by road despite the risks.
She said:
“I have to take the road, which is very unsafe, but I need to get to work. My lawyer will deal with it. I just need proof of what happened. They’re not remorseful. They’re not being fair.”
Ogunmola stressed that her video was intended as a record for legal purposes and not as a public protest.
“I’m not one to accuse anyone. I’m not going to yell. I’m not going to fight. But I just need proof,” she concluded.
