
The National Bureau of Food, Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC arrested a man identified as Anthony Chidi at the 3-mile market in Diobou, Port Harcourt, who produced counterfeit alcoholic beverages under unsanitary conditions.
Anthony was arrested in a dirty store washed bottles of various alcohol brands and refilled the resold drinks with unhealthy drinks. During the raid, officials discovered dirty empty bottles, ethanol, bottle caps and packaging materials.
Chidi admitted to running illegal operations for about a year, purchasing tags from the ABA and purchasing used bottles, the agency said. NAFDAC evacuated the store and confiscated all items found on the site for further investigation.
