The National Food and Drug Administration of the National Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has brought its products into the country, listing the Indian company’s Aveo Pharmaceuticals Pvt Limited as Aveo Pharmaceuticals Pvt Limited.

Naija News Reporting to the Director-General of NAFDAC nearbyIn a statement, the Indian company is linked to the illegal production and export of highly dangerous opioid combinations, including Nigeria.

Professor Adeyeye explained that Aveo’s products may cause respiratory failure, seizures, overdoses and death.

“The investigation shows that the company is managed by Vinod Sharma in the suburbs of Mumbai, which manufactures and distributes Tafrodol and Royal 225, which contains a harmful mixture of harmful Tapentadol (strong opioids) and Carisoprodol, a prohibited muscle relaxant. These substances pose serious health risks, including respiratory failure, seizures, overdoses and death.

“The BBC’s World Service Survey reveals how these packaging with the Aveo Pharmaceuticals logo brand were found on the streets of Nigeria, Ghana and Cot Ivoyr. Further evidence confirms that Aveo Pharmaceuticals is also involved in the illegal export of high doses of tramadol above 100mg, which is the intensity of unregistered or approved by NAFDAC.

“Undercover video captured Vinod Sharma, acknowledging that these opioids were large-scale distributions as street drugs in West Africa. Given the severity of these findings, NAFDAC took decisive action to make decisions on blacklist Aveo Pharmaceuticals and block its future product registration in Nigeria,She said

this NAFDAC DG, Professor Adeyeye reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting Nigerian lives. She urges Nigerians to avoid patronizing unregistered drugs.

She further called on Nigerians to support the agency’s struggle for fake drugs and fake businessmen’s activities.

“NAFDAC remains committed to protecting public health by implementing international best practices in drug regulation, including strict product registration, good manufacturing practice (GMP) inspections, post-market surveillance, and pre-currency inspections for high-risk imports.

“The agency has also strengthened enforcement actions against illegal drugs at major drug distribution centers across the country.

“To further safeguard Nigerians, Nafdaq urges the public to avoid unregistered medications and only use prescription medications assigned by licensed health care professionals.

“With ongoing vigilance and public support, NAFDAC will persist in the fight against the circulation of fake, unqualified and dangerous drugs in Nigeria, she added.
