NAFDAC warns Nigerians against sale of Indomie vegetable flavor noodles due to undeclared allergens

The National Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) of the United States has imposed a ban on Indomie brand vegetable-flavored noodles as the product contains undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which may pose significant health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

The National Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) of the United States has imposed a ban on Indomie brand vegetable-flavored noodles as the product contains undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which may pose significant health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

The French authorities (Rappel Conso of France) issued a notice regarding the recall of Indomie brand noodles with vegetable flavor, according to a statement cited by TVC News on the agency’s official website on Friday.

The statement read: “Public alert number 041/2025.
Indomie brand noodles (vegetable flavor product) are being recalled due to the presence of undeclared allergens (milk and eggs).

“Indomie noodles have become a household staple in many countries. Their popularity stems from their convenience, versatility, affordability and the comfort they bring to family meals,” the statement added.

NAFDAC noted that the official risk of these products entering Nigeria is low due to the federal government’s existing ban on noodle imports, stressing the need for increased vigilance to prevent the possible illegal entry or circulation of the Indomie brand involved.

NAFDAC said it had begun vigilant action to prevent the brand from potentially entering the country, stressing that it would not rule out purchasing the product through online purchases or international travel.

The agency directed all NAFDAC Regional Directors and State Coordinators to conduct surveillance and clean up the products if found within regions and states.

The agency further urges distributors, retailers and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain to avoid distribution, sale and consumption of the recalled foreign brand Indomie noodles.

NAFDAC advises consumers to discard the product, not to consume it and urges the public to report any suspicious sale of this brand of Indomie noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office (Tel: 0800-162-3322).

The agency advises the public to also report adverse events or side effects related to the consumption of the product or device to the nearest NAFDAC office or by using the electronic reporting platform available on the NAFDAC website.
