
Nigeria’s Transmission Company (TCN) denied the report that the State Grid had collapsed twice since the beginning of this year.
On Wednesday, February 12, there was no electricity in some parts of the country after the national grid was disturbed. This fuel guess, the grid collapsed again.
However, TCN said in a statement on its official X handle on Saturday, February 15 that it was naughty and misleading.
“It is necessary to point out that the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) is regulated by the Nigerian Electricity Supervision Commission (NERC) and is governed by the industry documents. The company clarified that despite no system crash, a tripping incident occurred on February 12, 2025, affecting power supplies in Abuja, Lagos and Osobo.
TCN explained that the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330 kV (KV) transmission line tripped, while the Benin-Ebin 330kV line was underway for scheduled maintenance. The destruction caused a cascade effect, resulting in disruption in some areas, although other parts of the country remained unaffected.
“Since then, a full recovery of a large amount of power supply to affected areas has been completed.’’
