Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was absent on Wednesday, March 5, and the Senate Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition Committee reviewed her actions in a controversial plenary session last week.
The comment stems from a fierce confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on seat allocation, during which she accused him of publicly humiliating her and blocking her legislative motion. The conflict led to Akpabio’s denial of her floor, causing the Senate to turn the matter over to its ethics committee for investigation.
At the hearing, committee chairman Neda Imasuen (PDP, Edo South) acknowledged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s absence: “Senator Natasha was properly invited to this meeting. We hope she will join us as we continue.” Despite the formal subpoena, she had not appeared before the committee at the time of submitting the report.
