Former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi dismissed a media report claiming that Senator Cyril Fasuyi (APC, North Ekiti) claimed on Wednesday that Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan accused Fayemi of S3xual Harassment.
In a statement released by Fayemi Media Office head Ahmad Sajoh, the statement was described as inaccurate and made false statements about Fasuyi’s actual remarks.
“Our attention has drawn a news report from Cable about a statement made by Senator Cyril Fasuyi during today’s Senate plenary session,” the statement said.
Sajoh clarified that the review of the plenary lawsuit confirmed that Fasuyi had never filed such a charge. He said the senator mentioned the controversy between Akpoti-uduaghan and Fayemi about Ajakuta Steel Company’s time as Minister of Mining and Steel Development in Fayemi.
“To avoid doubt, we wish to reiterate that Senator Akputi-Udoahan (or anyone else) has never accused Dr. Fayemi of any form of S3xual misconduct,” the statement added. “Dr. Fayemi has always maintained the highest standards of integrity in public service and we strongly reject any attempt by the media to link his name to unfounded and harmful allegations.”
The former governor also distanced himself from ongoing controversy in the Senate, stressing that his past interactions with Akpoti-uduaghan were strictly professional and based on policy differences rather than personal disputes.
Sajoh urges the media to verify the facts before release and avoid sensational sensation, which can damage reputation and erode public trust.
