Representatives of government officials, traditional rulers, clergy, other security agencies, international partners, NGOs and community leaders have witnessed the public destruction of illegal substances.

NDLEA burned illegal drugs on Saturday at an isolated site in Ipara, Ipara, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Saturday.

Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the anti-toxic agent, said some of the illegal drugs destroyed include 123 kilograms of cocaine. 46.8 kg heroin; 1.4 million kg marijuana; 148,000 kg codeine syrup; 3,244.26 kg tramadol; 1,544 kg chimney; and 111 kg methamphetamine, etc.

    According to him

“The huge seizure of approximately 1.6 million kilograms of seizures reminds the serious danger of these substances to public health until they are completely and irreversibly destroyed.

National drug enforcement agencies operate under clear mandates to reduce these narcotics to rubble. At all times, we have fulfilled this duty with utmost conscientiousness and diligence. ”

He warned those involved in drug trafficking that times have changed, saying there will be no breathing space or any safe haven in Nigeria.

“For those who are still involved in illegal drug trade, we will insist on reminding them that the times have changed. President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains a firm commitment to providing leadership and political will to eliminate this threat.

At NDLEA, we are ready to pursue our goals to responsibilities for those who violate the law. Over the past four years, we have successfully prosecuted and convicted 10,572 such criminals who are now serving their sentences. ” he added
