The National Examinations Commission (NECO) released external results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

– A total of 86,067 candidates were registered for the exam, taking 84,799 candidates and 57,114 candidates received five or more credits.

Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, NECO Registrar and CEO, said 86,067 candidates registered for the exam, of which 84,799 participated.
Wushishi reported that 57,114 candidates, representing 67.35% of the people, received 5 or more credits, including English and mathematics.
He noted that 62,929 candidates representing 75.62% received credit in English and above, while 77,988 candidates, representing 93.93% of candidates, received credit in mathematics credit and above.
“Canses earning five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, were 57,114, accounting for 67.35%,” Wushishi said.

In addition, there are 70,711 candidates, accounting for 83.39% of candidates, with five credits and above, regardless of English language and mathematics.
Wushishi also addressed the issue of malfeasance in exams and pointed out that the number of malfeasance cases has decreased compared to the previous year.
He revealed that 6,160 candidates were involved in various forms of malfeasance, a 27.7% decrease from 8,518 cases in 2023.

Professor Godswill Obioma, board registrar, said 26,277 of the 39,503 candidates sitting at NECO in 2020 received five credits, including English and Mathematics.
