Time magazine’s new cover features billionaire Elon Musk behind a decisive desk in the White House Oval Office.
The photo illustration mocks a cover story called “Inside Elon Musk’s War against Washington” which chronicles his efforts to implement large-scale government reforms during the first few weeks of President Trump’s presidency.
Musk, the new head of the Trump administration’s Department of Efficiency (DOGE), has sparked widespread condemnation from Democrats and federal workers as he strives to cut federal spending by cutting jobs, acquisitions and other cost-saving measures.
Tech and media tycoon targeted the United States International Development Agency (USAID), calling it a “left-wing Marxist” and gave thousands of employees administrative leave.
Musk is the richest man on earth, one of Trump’s biggest supporters and biggest donors on the campaign, and vows to work with the president to fulfill his agenda.
“President Musk” is not a new rumble, which dominated the political narrative after Trump’s election victory, but has been going on for quite some time.
Donald Trump also responded by dismissing the conversations. Elon Musk believes these are building wedges between him and President Trump.
The story on the cover says that there were no other single private citizens until Elon Musk had such power over the government.
“Every other administration bureau is loud and clear. There is no private citizen, certainly not those who are directly overseen by the federal authorities, who exert that power over the mechanisms of the U.S. government.
So far, Musk seems to have no responsibility for President Trump. President Trump has given campaign donors a daunting task to bring the administration into his agenda.
The story on the cover is called the first ripple of the “massive anti-government wave.”
“The budget will be hacked. Valuable plans will be eliminated. Professional civil servants will be removed and replaced by political appointees whose main qualification is clearly the loyalty of the president. This is the course chosen by voters. For many, this It’s the idea of many. The world’s most accomplished entrepreneur with the same speed and determination that he brought to a car startup or rocket company, hardening the federal bureaucracy is the reason for celebration, not the alarm.”
