Nigerian Football Federation denies contacts by Super Hawks coach Eric Chelle to end rumors.
The Maria coach is said to have been uncertain about the future of Nigeria’s work following the results of the World Cup qualifiers in March 2026, further stumbled the country’s hopes into chaos.
Senior officials from the football governing body now describe reports about the potential contract termination of Super Hawks coach Eric Chelle.
NFF board members told Punch that the executive committee did not call any meetings as the coach was heading to Europe where he was expected to meet Nigerian players and convince some more qualified players to play for the country.
“Nothing,” the board member said on anonymously. Punch holes.
“I’m on the board and there’s no problem with the coach’s contract. It’s all fake news.”
The list encountered in Europe is Arsenal Wonderkid, Ethan Nwaneri, who further promoted the chances of being loyal to Nigeria during their last international break.
Our source added: “The coach will be in Europe and he is expected to meet some players. Nwaneri will not be excluded, either.”
Chelle was appointed Super Hawks coach on a two-year contract in January, which will be renewed.
He has overseen only two matches since his appointment, coaching Nigeria to beat Kigali’s Rwanda 2-0 before then a frustrating 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe at UYO’s Zimbabwe last Tuesday.
