- In late 2025, Mina faced backlash and a petition calling for her deportation to Trinidad and Tobago went viral.

On Wednesday, January 28, American rapper Nicki Minaj shared a photo of US President Trump’s “gold card”, suggesting that she may have obtained a card that can speed up her naturalization in the United States, triggering heated discussions on the Internet.
Minaj was widely criticized online in late 2025 after a petition calling for her deportation to Trinidad and Tobago went viral. The petition cites her alleged harassment of Beyoncé and Jay-Z and her marriage to Kenneth Petty as reasons for wanting her to leave the United States.
Mina moved to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago as a child and is now a legal permanent resident. Despite paying substantial taxes over the years, she revealed in 2024 that she had not yet obtained U.S. citizenship.
However, by late January 2026, the rapper confirmed that she was actively seeking citizenship, a process she reportedly expedited by receiving a Trump “gold card” after publicly supporting the former president.
Minaj simply captioned the photo of the card “Welp…” in her post, referring to the physical card, which Forbes reports requires a $1 million donation to the U.S. Treasury, plus a $15,000 non-refundable fee.
The rapper also appeared to mock those who signed the deportation petition and boasted about getting a free Trump Gold Card.
“Residency? Residency? The response is on. As we complete the citizenship papers based on my wonderful, gracious, charming Presidential address. Thank you for this petition. I wouldn’t have done it without you. Oh CitizenNIKA, you are your moment. The Gold Trump Card is free.”
