The federal government announced the second phase of its contactless biometric application system on four diplomatic missions, located in the United States, Mexico, Jamaica and Brazil.
Naija News Report Nigeria Immigration Bureau (NIS) shared this information through a tweet from its official 𝕏 account, which is attributed to a service spokesperson Akkin plays Akinlabi.
The publication said that during the gradual implementation of the contactless biometric application system for missions in Nigeria abroad, the NIS, led by Auditor General Kemi Nanna Nannap, aims to inform the public, especially Nigerians living overseas, about the development of the initiative in a specific country.
“The app is currently available on the Google Play Store (NIS Mobile) and is designed to allow Nigerians to renew their passports without access to biometric admission centers in any passports.
“The Apple Store version will get started soon and will provide Android and iOS users with an enhanced version of the NIS mobile app to further improve user experience and accessibility.
“With this launch, the service further informs the general public that contactless passport apps are now being purchased in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil, Europe and Asia.
“This has not been launched in Australia and Nigeria, and both countries will announce future dates in due course. The service remains committed to providing innovative and efficient services to Nigerians anywhere in the world.” NIS pointed out.
