2023 Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi urged Nigeria’s political leaders to focus on governance and stop embarrassing citizens.
Peter Obiin a statement on Sunday, he responded to various events in different parts of the country, with Nigerian leaders frivolous while various most important national issues remained unattended.
Talking about allegations of sexual harassment Natator Natasha Na and Senate President Gosville Akpabioto the Lagos House of Assembly Speeper, the recent Supreme Court decision on the political crisis of the Rivers state, Obi believes that what happened in the government’s three weapons is disgusting and indifferent.
He further appealed that the three-armed leaders of the government should avoid inappropriate intervention in events at the state level.
Instead, the former Anambra governor urged Nigerian leaders to take urgent steps to address the myriad challenges facing the country and its citizens.
Obi also ridiculed the leadership by accusing Nigerian leaders of neglecting serious governance rather than political breakdown.
He concluded that Nigerians deserve better and that leaders must take urgent measures to correct various violations.
In his words “It is disturbing that Nigeria’s political leaders are quickly falling into an embarrassing wonder.
“Our country faces the highest levels of real and multidimensional poverty, expensive infant mortality, millions of children, one of the most insecure and insecure countries on the planet, the hard work of escalating insecurities and countless other challenges.
“People want our leaders to focus and sacrifice to merely provide urgent, transformative solutions to countless problems, but not necessarily.
“Instead, whether it is allegations involving sexual harassment or budget filling in the National Assembly, disputes surrounding state housing for members of the National Assembly, reckless court decisions, threatening to undermine or deprive the state of providing the services needed to provide citizens with the services they need.
“What happened in the three weapons of the government, the executive, the legislature and the judiciary is disgusting and unshakable. The performance of the execution of negative power seen in Osun State, the reckless justice declaration of the river state can threaten democracy, and the embarrassing scandals of the National Assembly, all combined to make our journey of democracy frustrating.
“The leaders of these three weapons should avoid excessive destructive interference in the affairs of the activities of the subnational government.
“The leaders of the three weapons should take urgent steps to stabilize our political system and prevent politicians from defecting to political parties, who think it would be easier to put them in the office.
“This reckless neglect to serious governance has serious damage to millions of Nigerians who should have the ability to focus on solving practical problems, responsible leadership.
“The blatant display of political breakdown, coupled with widespread violations, depicts a painful leadership film that abandons its core responsibilities to the people, making governance similar to a dramatic performance rather than a serious commitment to public service.
“While citizens are under various difficult pressures for their detrimental to the government, those in power have prioritized personal interests and political game skills over national well-being.
“The ridicule of leadership is not only unacceptable, but also a betrayal of the trust of the people.
“Nigeria cannot be ruled like a reality show, and millions have suffered so long. It’s time to root leadership with character, competence, ability, consistency, compassion and urgency, prioritizing education, health care and poverty.
“Anything less threatens the stability of the country, undermines the present and betrays the future of the country.
“New Nigeria is possible! -po.”
