American anchor Darren Jason Watkins Jr. (commonly known as IShowSpeed) praised Nigerian food and declared that Nigerian jollof rice is the best rice in the world.
Speaking live in Lagos on Wednesday, Speed joined the ongoing conversation about which African country offers the best jollof rice.
The content creator, who recently visited Senegal to cover the country’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy parade, said the Nigerian jollof surpasses the Senegalese version in terms of taste.
“Nigerian jollof rice is good. It tastes better than Senegalese jollof rice. I think, in terms of which country has the best jollof rice, I have to choose Nigeria.” he said.

Videos circulating online showed that Peller went to great lengths to satisfy IShowSpeed, including tracking his convoy and even riding a horse, but he failed to attract the attention of the streamer.
Despite being ridiculed, Pele’s friend, the Chief Pastor, criticized Nigerians for attacking the young creator’s persistence despite their age difference. He wrote on social media:
“Why do we love destroying the hustle or energy of our own brothers? A little boy like Peller, whose hustle is to get to the top speed in the business, does what he does to make a mockery of it. There is no shame in being busy and I celebrate Peller’s energy to achieve his dreams. Now you know why he is greater than most of you because he is ready to push shamelessly.”
He further explained that even popular streamers sometimes reject people:
“If you follow the pace stream, he will get rejected too, so what’s the big deal. Speed’s neglect of Peller is deliberate and he knows the boy. It’s a matter of management. Peller’s drive is phenomenal and that’s how you go after what you want and most importantly, never shy away from the rejection it has to come. Keep working towards the top.”
The chief pastor’s defense stressed the importance of perseverance and celebrating ambition, urging Nigerians to respect the effort required to succeed rather than ridicule others.
