

Nigeria lost Amaju Pinnick in the recently concluded vote, losing its only seat on the FIFA Men’s Football Committee.
Former Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick barely lost bid for re-election to the FIFA committee, second only to one vote. Souleiman Waberi of Djibouti won the final seat of 29 votes and eliminated Pinnick, who won 28 votes during the African Football Conference Federation in Cairo on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa led the election with 49 votes, while Egypt’s Hani Rida and Niger’s Djibrilla Hamidou won 35 votes. Mauritania’s Ahmed Yahya and Waberi also won their positions with 29 votes. This result ends Pinnick’s tenure at FIFA’s highest decision-making body, which has served since 2021 and is committed to extending the term.
In the women’s category, Comoros’ Kanizat Ibrahim won with 30 votes, surpassing Lydia Nsekera, who won 13 votes, and Isha Johansen, who won 7 votes.
