The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially opened the International Helicopter Flight School (IHFS) in Enugu State.

The establishment of the new agency aims to train elite helicopter pilots to achieve military and civilian purposes marks an important milestone in the Nigerian aviation sector and strengthens the U.S. focus on skills development and operational efficiency.

IHFS has modern infrastructure and experienced lecturers designed to produce pilots who can compete globally. The initiative highlights NAF’s commitment to strengthening African air power while creating new career paths for Nigerians.

The project was achieved through a partnership with Aviation Engineering and Technology Services Co., Ltd. and Sanya Ren Airlines Co., Ltd. The school is considered a key step in modernizing aviation training in Nigeria and strengthening its defense capabilities.

IHFS provides a wide range of training programs for military personnel and civilian cadets, combining hands-on flight experience with technical and operational guidance. Its mission is to develop highly competent pilots prepared to meet international aviation challenges.

NAF emphasizes that the school has cutting-edge equipment and curriculum that is aligned with global standards. Experienced lecturers ensure that trainees receive practical, high-quality guidance throughout their education.

The announcement has developed a strong interest in social media, with many Nigerians visiting NAF’s official X page to ask about qualifications and training requirements, reflecting a strong enthusiasm for the program.

In addition, NAF has launched a national recruitment campaign for 2025, inviting Nigerians to apply for roles in engineering, healthcare, cybersecurity and other fields. Candidates must meet specific age, education and nationality standards.
