According to him, impostors have been using COAS’s official portraits as their profile pictures on various social media platforms.

He said this is not the first time an impostor has tried to imitate COA on social media platforms to deceive the unsuspecting public.

“But one new trend observed is to pin the participants on Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook and other needs on the need to be fixed online/virtual meetings and then trick them,” Nwachukwu said.

Nwachukwu warned: “While the Nigerian army, like other sister services of the armed forces, spread in ways that all officials and soldiers know, must be vigilant about the dangers posed by these impostors.”

“So, you are urged to avoid attending any online meetings organized on social media platforms, especially using the official portrait of COA as a display image.
